One of the aspects of all of this is what most people refer to as Dog Training, you know sit – down – heel – come and with that most folks believe they are done or most of the time when their four legged partner doesn’t seem to learn they just concede and move on. Yet there are so many trainers, so many techniques, everyone seems to have the best way. There is even a movement that is deemed to be progressive when it comes to this entire subject similar to politics with the implication that if it an old concept it has no or limited use. Our focus is simple if you really want to have a relationship with your dog you have to have a very clear idea of how it perceives the world and more importantly how it perceives you.
It is really nice when they walk right next to you, stay put when you need them to and do not eat your furniture but there is something calming and self-assuring when you know you actually have an understanding and a relationship with your four legged companion and you grow together. In my world I have seen dogs give their all to protect to console to just be there when you needed them. In all of that I am certain Dogs are not people, as much as some folks would like them to be they are not, so we need to take the time to educate ourselves on who they are exactly and who we are and can be for them.
The program at RSK has this perception and philosophy at its core. Classes are interactive, you actually have to read and study a book and there is even homework, both written and practical. Our initial five part program begins on April 25th at 5:30 PM at our one acre facility. In the future there will be expanded classes, we will also be putting on one session seminars on various topics and we are always available at our facility to answer questions. It is suggested that you call and make your reservation. Yes, we will work on Sit – down – stay & Come, but that will be the small part.
