RSK provides a Therapy Dog Team to the community which interacts with various medical provider entities, such as Hospitals, Hospice, Rehabilitation Centers. The community program selects and trains handler teams to serve in the community.

All services can be provided either at our facility or in your home.

Under the ADA, a service animal is a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The tasks must be directly related to the person’s disability. Learn more on the ADA website.

Therapy dogs are specially trained to provide emotional support and comfort in medical centers, schools, rehab facilities, and more. RSK trains and sponsors the Tri-State Area’s Therapy Dog Team, making a positive impact at hospitals, veteran’s centers, and therapy programs every week.

Veteran Service Dog Program – No Cost for Qualified Veterans

We proudly provide no-cost service dogs to qualified veterans in our community. Our team works with veterans to match, train, and place dogs for mobility, PTSD, support, and more.   1. Consultation: Meet with our K9 Behavior Team to discuss your goals, dog’s temperament, and specific needs.
  2. Personalized Training Plan: We assess your dog’s suitability for therapy/service work and design a tailored curriculum.
  3. Private and Group Lessons: Hands-on, real-world training at our facility and in community locations.
  4. Public Access Testing & Certification: We help you and your dog earn necessary certifications and documentation for therapy or public access.

What’s the difference between a service dog and a therapy dog?

Service dogs are trained to perform specific tasks for a disabled individual and have legal public access rights. Therapy dogs provide comfort in facilities, but do not have public access rights.
We provide a behavior evaluation and consultation to assess suitability. Not all dogs are candidates, but we’ll help you every step of the way.
